Drawing you by your 12words

This project is about creating and capturing the essence of an individual in the ephemeral present moment. In this piece, I first record the voice of the person I am drawing. I ask them to speak twelve words that mean something to them - either in isolation or as a statement. As I draw their portrait over the twelve strings embedded in the paper, the program produces the sound of their twelve words. The act of drawing is analog, the sound generation process is digital, and the performance is wholly focused on the answers to Tolstoy's questions: "Now," "You," and "What I am doing now." The drawing and words come together to create a multi-dimensional portrait of the person that exists in the moment.
