대한 민국의 중요한 역사적 사건 광주 5.18 민주화 운동을 “빛”이라는 메타포를 통해,중립적 아름다움으로 표현하고자 한다. 특히 도청을 마지막까지 지킨 열사들의 마지막 밤을 “최후의 만찬”이라는 성경적 이야기를 빌어 “빛” 의 미학으로 표현한다. 5월 26일 5.18의 마지막 밤, 그들의 이야기는 5.18 최초희생자(광주)청각장애인 김경철 열사의 손짓을 통해 수화로 전달된다. 도청의 마지막 밤을 지킨 윤상원 열사의 인터뷰와 YWCA 빌딩을 지킨 박용준 열사의 일기를 토대로 수화로 재구성하였다. 기억하고자 한다,
우리들의 일상을 가능하게 해 준 그들의 “최후의 만찬”을.
"THE LAST SUPPER” -Light” - 5.18 10days
Focusing on “The Spirit” of May uprising as the “light”, I metaphorized the last day of May uprising as “The last supper” based on a biblical context.
May uprising is a 10-days movement. On the last day, martyrs made the last commitment as remaining at the provincial hall, although they knew they would die.
It is composed of sign languages of the first victim who is deaf.
I want for us to remember the last supper, which makes our ordinary days seem possible through the “Light”
