Rosary

The desire to make a rosary has quietly lived within me since 2021. I still do not fully know why. Perhaps it began when the love I had received grew beyond anything I could measure; from then on, the desire simply settled into my heart. I entered the thirty-day Spiritual Exercises thinking I would "just work." Yet as I contemplated the twenty mysteries day by day, the deepest source of this work emerged during the meditation on the Second Luminous Mystery—the Wedding at Cana. As often happens in the Exercises, a long silence unfolded, and the Holy Spirit waited quietly with me. Then, in an unexpected moment, I found myself as a small child, shyly hiding behind the hem of someone's garment. It was Our Lady's mantle. She gently held me close and led me toward someone. It was Jesus.

Her words were a warm invitation, drawing the deepest center of my being toward Him. It was a warmth no writing could fully contain—the warmth of grace itself.

Arvo Pärt's Für Alina gave me the image of stars being placed one by one like musical notes upon the night sea. I imagine Our Lady walking gently among those star-lit waters—the Star of the Sea, Stella Maris, the radiant star who leads us to look upon Jesus Christ alone.

로사리오를 만들고 싶다는 마음은 2021년부터 조용히 내 안에 머물러 있었다. 그 이유를 나는 지금도 완전히 알지 못한다. 그저 내가 받은 사랑을 헤아릴 수 없었던 어느 순간부터, 그 마음은 자연스럽게 내 안에 자리 잡은 듯하다. 나는 영신수련 30일에 '작업만 하겠다'는 생각으로 들어갔다. 스무 단의 신비를 하루하루 쪼개어 묵상하는 동안, 이 작업의 가장 깊은 원천이 된 경험은 빛의 신비 2단, 가나의 혼인잔치를 관상하던 시간에 주어졌다. 영신수련이 그러하듯, 오랜 침묵이 이어졌고, 성령님께서도 오랫동안 응답하지 않으셨다. 그러던 어느 순간, 나는 아주 어린아이가 되어 누군가의 옷자락 뒤에 조심스레 숨어 있었다. 그것은 성모님의 옷자락이었다. 성모님은 나를 다정하게 감싸 안으며 누군가에게 나를 소개하셨다. 예수님이셨다.

그 말씀은 내 안의 모든 중심이 예수님께 향하도록 나를 인도해 주셨다. 그 따뜻함은 어떤 말이나 글로도 완전히 담아낼 수 없는, 은총의 깊은 온기였다.

Arvo Pärt의 〈Für Alina〉는 내게 밤바다 위에 별들이 하나하나 음표처럼 찍혀 나가는 이미지를 보여 주었다. 나는 그 별빛이 깔린 바다를 조심스럽게 걸어가시는 성모님을 떠올린다. 어둠 속에서 길을 밝혀 주시는 바다의 별, Stella Maris. 우리를 오직 예수 그리스도만 바라보게 하는 빛나는 별.
